Voller: Ballack wants to prove fitness

Bayer Leverkusen general manager Rudi Voeller says Michael Ballack is ready to show Germany coach Joachim Loew, it was a mistake to limit his international career.

The German Football Association (DFB) announced last month, the captain of 34 years, the former would no longer be considered as international obligations.

"As far as we are concerned in Leverkusen, the question of the DFB and Ballack is grace," Voller said in an interview with the newspaper Bild.

"Everything has been said. What matters now is that Michael works for us. However, you can clearly see, Ballack is in a state different from his wounds after he was injured. It is much more fit.

"You can clearly feel that he wants to prove to everyone. We would get great joy out of it."

The former Chelsea midfielder has won 98 caps in his country, but last played in the low-side, before the tournament last summer's World Cup, remained with the ankle injury, and that is was the first of a series of exciting young players.

Voller requires no hurry to agree a new contract with goalkeeper Rene Adler.

"We are connected by Rene Adler and his agent," said Voller.

"We have now agreed that Rene will give us a sign. There is no pressure of time or a period in this case."
