Schwarzer Happy After Arsenal Saga

Mark Schwarzer is happy at Fulham again, a year after seeing a dream move to Arsenal collapsed.

The Australian shot-stopper has been the subject of a longstanding interest in the Gunners last summer, with Arsene Wenger has identified him as its top target now.

Fulham, however, stuck to their guns and refused to pander to their rivals in the Premier League.

They were able to keep Schwarzer out of clubs and Arsenal were close to him throughout the season 2010/11.

The 38-year-old admits it was hard to keep your attention on the task at hand, which comes as close to joining a club in the Champions League by UEFA, but insists that no "nothing wrong but part of the assembly in place at Craven Cottage.

He said: "It was a test for me, no doubt?.

"It 's always a great test when speculation and ongoing saga.

"What you have to do is get your head down and do your job. Showed me that I could do.

"I am an employee Fulham and I always said I like to play for this club."

Schwarzer believes Cottagers are a club going in the right direction, and admits he was surprised to see former boss Mark Hughes to leave his executive position in June

He said: "The chairman (Mohamed Al Fayed) is a 100 per cent support and the club would not exist in a position where his back is now no solid rock.

"It was a surprise when Mark Hughes left, but Martin Jol has had some great coaching positions and divide with ease."
