Report: Blues to offer for Modric

Chelsea increased its bid for Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric for £ 27 million, sources include Sky Sports.

Premier League finalists last season are planned to make a better offer for the Croatia international has failed with a £ 22m approach in mid-June

To have lost Michael Essien for up to six months due to knee surgery, Chelsea, led by André Villas-Boas, has now made their final approach with an increase of 5 million pounds during their initial offer.

Modrice said it may request the transfer in order to move to Stamford Bridge, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy but has already made it clear that the 2008 signing Dinamo Zagreb did not sell.

It seems unlikely that £ 27m will be accepted and the previous Monday evening Spurs manager Harry Redknapp described above offer £ 22m as a "joke".

Redknapp, however, recognized that Levy makes the final decisions on transfers and the White Hart Lane boss has also recognized the need to sell to bring new players in his team after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Speculation has suggested that Lyon £ 9m-rated for the Bosnians, Miralem Pjanic, is considered perhaps could be replaced, but it was also reported over the weekend that Tottenham were preparing a new £ 80 000 weeks of five years Modrice contract offer.

The agreement would be 25 years of highest paid star Tottenham, but the threat of the player to request a transfer means that it seems impossible to convince him that Levy has a future at White Hart Lane.

Modric, who could earn £ 120,000 a week at Chelsea, has already ruled that Levy has betrayed a verbal agreement that he was beaten when he signed a new six-year contract worth £ 50,000 a week 05 2010.

Levy insists such agreement exists, but it was understood that Tottenham Modric believes the club would listen to offers more noticeable.
