Ponce disappointing draw with Chile

Chile defender Waldo Ponce Rued missed opportunities for his team to take the three points after struggling to a 1-1 draw with Uruguay in Group C of Copa America.

Uruguayan Alvaro Pereira presented the advantage early in the second half, but Barcelona objective Alexis Sanchez of Chile equalized just after the hour.

Speaking after the match, Ponce has endorsed the results of the game, but admitted his team had the better team and will have the three points.

"I'm resigned to a draw, but I'm not happy. We played well and when he plays well against a big rival, is still a merit," the 28-year-old was quoted as saying on the website official website for the Cup America.

"Anyway, the battle was correct, football has always implemented the same, so we could have won the game.

"The idea was not to lose, with the objective that we have suffered a bit of desperation, but slowed down and made a good match."

With the draw, Chile maintained their place in the top of Group C with four points and play in Peru since July 12.
