Martinez Fears Wigan Are "dead Months"

Roberto Martinez concluded, after studying the match schedule, Wigan face a "Month of Death" in December.

Latics had reason to celebrate the last day of the victory of last season as Stoke secured their Premier League survival years.

Martinez is looking forward to the 2011/12 campaign, when their first three opponents will be promoted clubs Norwich, Swansea and Queens Park Rangers.

However, things seem to be much more difficult for the end of the year with a series of matches against the best teams in the league in December.

Wigan take Arsenal, West Brom, Chelsea and Liverpool before they travel to champions Manchester United on Boxing Day 2011 and ends at Stoke.

"December is a month to become a little death," Martinez admitted to the Daily Star Sunday.

"It 'a fantastic combination of the teams we face.

"But we are very excited with the way the season ended and can not wait for the opener."

Wigan first moving game of the season are against Swansea Martinez former club, where the Spaniard spent time as both an actor and a leader.

"I have a strong relationship with the club," he explained.

"I was one of the first foreigners to become captain, and we moved to the new stadium.

"They were good times and I can not wait."
