Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says Darron Gibson is traveling to Sunderland after "changed the rules of the game."

Sunderland made a triple-States by Gibson, Wes Brown and John O'Shea early in the transfer window this summer.

Brown and O'Shea have since completed their move to the Stadium of Light, but Gibson moves to Wear Side fell through.

Ferguson said: "I was about to go to Sunderland and somewhere along the line, I do not know exactly when, I think Sunderland moved the goalposts.

"I suspect that their job is to try to save money.

"From what I understand, they gave him an offer and then it changed. It irritated Darren and I think it's quite accurate.

"If you can not trust them on the first day, why wait until the second day?"

Gibson admits Ferguson, who was left United tour of the United States as it seeks to clarify his future was in limbo, the fall of the movement of Sunderland.

"Darron had hesitated what to do when we group here - and we both knew it would be better left behind," added Ferguson.

"It seems to be a limbo right now."
