Beckham: Mourinho is a genius

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is a "genius," according to David Beckham, who supported the Portuguese to carry his share of the season after the former greatness.

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder has won a title and a Super League for four seasons with the Spanish club, while Mourinho saw his side equal to all the big money - out of the Copa del Rey - Barcelona in their first season in the Santiago Bernabeu.

But Beckham is confident Portugal can be the end of Barça dominance of national and international level during the new campaign.

"I am one of the best coaches in the world. Mourinho is a genius and showed that all the teams that he coached," the former England captain said Brand.

"Madrid are building a strong team of key players, and you can win all the competitions.

"They are a team that strikes fear (their rival), and no doubt we can win everything."

Beckham missed the chance to play for the Galaxy against his former club last summer when he was sidelined with a Achilles injury saw him miss the World Cup.

But the Londoner says he welcomes the idea of meeting in Madrid on the Spanish side current U.S. tour, despite a shoulder problem.

"I have good memories of my stay in Madrid," he said.

"I could not play last year, but I do not want to miss this - it's a special game.

"I have a shoulder problem, but it feels better all the time and I have a week to prepare for the match against Madrid."

And former Manchester United midfielder revealed that he is willing to meet with another legend of Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Ronaldo is a phenomenon and one of the best players (the world). I can not wait to see it," he said.

Beckham was signed in Madrid, Florentino Perez in 2003, but construction magnate resigned two years later, before taking again in 2009 when the English had already taken the lead.

"If Florentino had fallen, I'm sure I would have retired at Real Madrid," Beckham said.
