Uruguay is to avoid complacency

The Uruguay boss Oscar Washington Tabarez dismissed talk of his side are favorites for their opening Copa America against Peru.

He also believes that appeal to Argentina to Bolivia, Friday should eliminate complacency.

Title favorites Argentina and hosts could not draw with outsiders in the first game of the tournament - a result that proved the smaller sites should not be underestimated.

Washington Tabarez and hopes his players have taken this message on board.

"Being favorites means nothing," he said.

"This does not necessarily translate into what is happening on the ground. Friday's game was an example. No team should be underestimated because they can always create problems.

"Each of 12 teams have a chance, do not reject anyone. But I thought at the moment is only in Peru."

Washington Tabarez, who took the unusual step of naming his team on the pre-match press conference, added: "We believe that Peru will give us a great game.

"We have great respect for our opponents and we know who will give everything."

Peruvians have also noted the results in Argentina, Bolivia game and star striker Jose Paolo Guerrero said he had given them renewed confidence.

"There is much talk of our first game, and how to go. We know that the game will be difficult, but leave everything on the floor," said www.libero.pe.

"Football is a great leveler. Look at what happened in Argentina failed to beat Bolivia.

"Match the end of the field, but we will go with high confidence."
