With the start of the Barclays Premier League, just two weeks away, said the Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina in the club has much to be excited.Although Liverpool have managed to finish sixth in the Premier League last season, was still quite an achievement considering that the club already in the bottom half of the table when Kenny Dalglish took office in January.
Roy Hodgson's replacement, the club has its way in the legend of the revamping of the team, not only in the imagination of the Kop, bringing the likes of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, as well as a series of bloody academy products successfully.
Progress in Dalglish has continued this summer with the purchase of Stewart Downing, Adam and Charlie Henderson Jordan, and although Liverpool have lost their last two pre-season friendlies at Hull City and Galatasaray with three goals margins, Reina is very enthusiastic about prospects for the club this season.
"I think we proved our goal during the window [transfer]," Reina told the club's official website.
"The other teams doing the same and will be difficult to compete against them, but we are optimistic, and the season can go very well for us."
One of the players are required to fire Liverpool to glory this season Suarez, who is fresh from winning his title back to take advantage of the recently concluded Copa America in Uruguay, Argentina.
Having attracted the attention of the Kop last season, Reina Suarez believes it will be better this term.
"It [winning the Copa America] a great moment and I was happy texting him to congratulate him because he deserved it.
"It can be really good for his confidence and trust of the team, at the same time.
"As we have seen in the last six months of the season [past], it is a top, the best player and one of the best strikers in the world.
"It goes to show that is a fantastic player for us."
Reina has not played in any of the pre-season friendly Liverpool so far, but has fully recovered from a double hernia operation and hopes to get the match started on Monday, the Norwegian outfit Valerenga.
The 28-year-old admitted to spending his summers to recover from the damage had not been ideal, but it does offer a chance to take more rest than he had during previous summers.
"The goal is to play for Valerenga, and after that Valencia is one more week, and it should be good enough for this club.
"Just because the safe side, we did not want to point - there was no sense to do so, I am fully recovered now, training with the team as usual and I look forward ..
"I can not wait to play again. It is so nice that was my holiday, while my operation. But after three years without having a good time, rest a little more this season."
Since arriving in 2005 from Villarreal, Reina has become one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and won the Barclays Golden Glove in three consecutive seasons from 2006 to 2008.
In addition, it was also a member of Spain, a successful Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup campaigns.
