Johnson hopes that the new season

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson is waiting for the new season with confidence after signing a contract extension at Anfield.

The England defender, like many of his teammates endured mixed fortunes during the previous season, when he looked sadly short form under Roy Hodgson, but has been rejuvenated after the arrival of Kenny Dalglish in January, playing well out of position to the left rear.

Johnson has committed his long term future of the club on Wednesday and admitted it was an easy decision.

"I'm very happy. I've been here a couple of years and it's nice to be here for a few years more than now," he said.

"For the club wants me to be here is a great feeling, and I had to think twice before signing.

"I am improving all the time Liverpool was never too good to better -. And I try to only get better.

"With the team we have now, backstage staff and the way things go, things look positive. The club seeks to bring the players a little more, so the future looks bright.

"We did a couple of good buys and have a few more we have the right to enter into force next season.

"I'm very confident (about the new season). If we take it game to play, I think we'll do well."

The work behind the scenes on the floor of the club's Melwood training this morning with the reserve team captain Wisdom, André sign a contract extension.

The 18 was capped by England under-19s last season and he also played first-team bench as an unused substitute in a couple of times in Dalglish.

"It was a fantastic success. It has great potential and great future ahead of him," said director of football Damien Comolli.

"We have long shown that if young players are good enough, they will be rewarded.

"It 'a result in some way, but he does not like to sit and wait for this contract, what will happen -. He must demonstrate that he is hungry and wants to continue to progress"

Comolli has hailed the influence of Ambassador Dalglish, former director of the club's academy for young players through, to give John Flanagan and Jack Robinson becomes the first team last season.
