Luka Modric Tottenham Hotspur ACE handed a transfer request in an attempt to force through a move to Chelsea.

According to The Guardian, Modric made the decision Wednesday after Tottenham rejected a new offer from Chelsea, who enjoyed the Croatia international £ 27 million.

Modrice flew to South Africa for his team-mates for pre-season around Tottenham, but the newspaper said breakdown in relations between the president and Modrice Daniel Levy has reached a new low after the transfer request.

Modric is understood that decided to join his teammates for preseason tour of respect for his manager, Harry Redknapp, who showed great empathy for the situation of his star midfielder. Redknapp has publicly joined Levy said that Modric is not for sale, but also quick to praise the attitude of Croatia and even said he understood why the player wanted to join Chelsea.

Modric has reiterated its commitment to complete a "dream" to go to Stamford Bridge, and even took the extraordinary step of criticizing Levy. He accused the president of breaking a gentleman's agreement to sell him to a bigger club this summer.

Tottenham refused to make such an agreement.

Redknapp said: "I hope they go away and get a bit of football and now has just passed, I hope to come back and prepare for the new season .."

William Gallas did not travel with the team due to a calf problem and Ledley King and Sandro are both with knee injuries.

Sandro will report to the club's training ground on Thursday to be evaluated after the Brazilian football federation sent home from the Copa America in the midst of fear he had torn the meniscus in his knee.

Steven Pienaar would be one of the players who would benefit most from Modrice departure, but said today that he hopes that the former Dinamo Zagreb man remains.

"You always want to improve and for us it is important that we all stay together as a team and benefit from," Pienaar told Sky Sports News.

Tottenham play Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday and then take the Orlando Pirates on Tuesday before playing the winner of a play-off between the two local groups, July 23.

Pienaar is excited to play in their country of origin and the opportunity to put his fitness problems behind him, having been concerned about the knee and groin injuries last season.

"I am delighted with the trip," the former Everton man was said.

"I've had many ups and downs in my first months at the club, but I hope to put it behind me now.

"I'm almost there with my condition. I'm still working. I hope to get the game."

Captain Michael Dawson, meanwhile, reacted angrily to claims he fell out with the hierarchy of the club on a new contract.

Reports this morning suggested that Dawson was unhappy with the Spurs' refusal to offer him an improved offer, but he insists he is happy at the club.

"I have no idea where this story is - it's certainly not come to myself or any of my representatives," Dawson.

"I think I've always found that I am a proud player and captain of this club and nothing has changed in this regard.

"I have a great relationship with everyone at the club president, players and fans would not like misrepresentation of this type have an impact on this.

"There is absolutely no fallout with anyone. I still have four years remaining on my current contract and has no problems at all with respect.

"It's an honor to be captain of this football club and my only goal is to be ready for the new season with the Spurs, and hopefully England too."
