Gerrard ruled out until September

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has ruled out until September after a hospital with an infection related to his nagging groin injury.

Gerrard had been the rehabilitation of a groin surgery that ended his season in mid-March, but manager Kenny Dalglish had expected to be back for the start of the new campaign.

However, today a statement on the club's website revealed that it will not be available until next month.

"Steven Gerrard today began a course of antibiotics for an infection associated with a groin problem in progress," he said.

Declaration of the club continues: "He should stay in the hospital for several days, when the protective order has been completed.

"Then, the player returns to Melwood to continue his rehabilitation program and should be available for selection in September."

The England midfielder, who was sitting brief tour of the Far East the club this summer, just the devices Liverpool Sunderland Premier League against Arsenal and Bolton, with the trip to Stoke on 10 September a possible target for his return.

Gerrard was already set to miss the international friendly with Holland on August 10 but will now no doubt the England Euro 2012 qualifiers due to Bulgaria's second in September and return in Wales four days later .
