Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos said his teammate Angel Di Maria to win a new contract on the ground instead of asking about it.

The Argentina striker has publicly declared that Madrid expects to offer a better contract after an impressive season for the first time at the club.

The observations seem to have rubbed his teammate Ramos the wrong way.

"We, the players talking on the pitch," Ramos told reporters during a news conference.

"The renewal comes alone. The best way to be happy is to continue at Real Madrid."

Ramos recently wrote a new contract and the defender is optimistic the team can build on their success in the Copa del Rey last season on the back of new recruits and monitors as Fabio Coentrao Raphael.

"The team is very appreciated. All I can say that the level is very high and the season is long," Ramos was quoted as saying.

"I know Coentrao, a great defender and adds much to the attack.

"Varane is really young, but he is good, it brings hope. He suggested Zidane, a man expert in football. We hope that the best integration possible."

Reports suggest that Real are about to sign Emmanuel Adebayor Manchester City, which could further strengthen the club's trophy hunting next season.
