Cavani happy to stay in Naples

Edinson Cavani has pledged to stay in Naples next season and pay the club for the faith shown in him.

The promise is fresh speculation linking him with a move to Manchester City.

Uruguayan striker joined Napoli Palermo 12 months ago and scored 26 goals in Serie A to help firefighters for qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

He also signed a contract extension to keep him in Naples in May 2016, while the club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has imposed a € 100 million (£ 90m) price on his head.

The reports are, however, continued to link with the rest of the Cavani, and Man City manager Roberto Mancini has stated his admiration for another 24 years, during the weekend.

Cavani insists however that he enjoys life in Naples, and look forward to spending a year at the San Paolo.

"I am very happy with everything, Naples and its people have given me, so we'll be there next year," he said Fifa.com.

Asked if he had noticed that Manchester City are sky blue, the color of Uruguay and Naples, Cavani said: "It is true that I am a believer and all these things appear as messages ..

"They're just coincidences."

Cavani admits he was surprised and pleased to enjoy such a successful first season with Napoli.

He explained: "We must always try to finish the year or season in the best possible way, because you never know what is around the corner.

"I never expected things to work so fast, but somehow they did. At the end of the day, I think it happened because I worked hard and stuck to it."
