Becks praises "extraordinary" Ronaldo

LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham has heaped praised Real Madrid star Ronaldo.

Ronaldo scored his first goal in Madrid 2011-12 pre-season campaign in a 4-1 win friendly match against the Galaxy. The quality of Ronaldo 52nd minute strike was not lost on the former England captain, as he described it as "extraordinary."

"It's a great talent," Beckham told ESPN.

"The goal from Cristiano Ronaldo was unbelievable, but he can do it whenever he wants - he's a player.

"I said, the week that he is not one, technically gifted players in the world, work hard.

"A player does not reach that level without having to work hard, but doing the things you need to do to be the best player in the world - is outstanding."

Beckham wore the captain's armband to hold the Major League Soccer, but it was Joseph Lane, who in turn opened the scoring for Jose Mourinho's side after half an hour. Joselu doubled their lead six minutes before the break before a crowd of 56,211 at the Coliseum in Los Angeles.

Half-time substitute Ronaldo added his name to the scoresheet in the 52nd minute with a fine individual effort and Karim Benzema is 4-0 five minutes later before Adam Cristman headed home a consolation for the Galaxy.

Madrid, take the Chivas de Guadalajara in the second game of their U.S. tour before the meeting in Philadelphia of the Union on July 23.
