Acasiete Peru roses patience

Peru defender Santiago Acasiete believes that his team's patience was the key factor in their 1-0 victory over Mexico in their Copa America Group meeting C

In the game, which is now almost guaranteed place in the quarter-finals, dominated Peru from the beginning, but were wasteful in front of the target significantly, although Paolo Guerrero strike finally ended the three points.

Speaking after the match, admitted Acasiete Mexico has proved a stubborn test for Peruvians, but praised the patience of his team showed.

"The team has continued, we had a lot of attitude and patience to finish to win the game," said the official web site Acasiete Copa America.

Peru next face Chile next Tuesday, and Acasa have dared to believe his teammates can go far in the tournament.

"Today [Friday] was a very tough match and the result was important.

At the other end of the spectrum, Mexico Giovani dos Santos for his team now faces the possibility probable elimination of the group stage, the expected result considering that they had been assigned for the younger half of the Copa after exercise the senior team at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

"It 'hard to know now is very difficult [for the quarter-finals], but we'll keep looking until there is hope."

Dos Santos also deplored the fact that Mexico lacks a lot of players who helped win the Gold Cup last month, the likes of Manchester United, Javier Hernandez and Andres Guardado of Deportivo La Coruna.

"We have some players in the group, who are competiting competition of this magnitude for the first time.

"Yet despite the defeat, they should be commended for showing the determination on the ground because it was not easy."

Mexico is not without a point from the first two matches and must win against Uruguay next Tuesday, if they had any dream of making the quarter-finals.
