Interviews were conducted at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Jakarta, Friday (06/24/2011) evening hrs.
Van Bronckhorst appear relaxed by wearing T-shirts and shorts. Throughout the interviews, former players RKC Waalwijk, Feyenoord, Glasgow Rangers, Arsenal and Barcelona were enthusiastic and friendly answer any questions.
Here is an excerpt detiksport interview with Gio, greeting a man 36 years who had blood on his body's Maluku.
detiksport: Good afternoon Gio. Detiksport reporters there that meet your parents in South Africa (World Cup 2010) last year.
Gio: Oh. It was great.
D: Gio, talking about the parents. What is the role of parents in building character, discipline and your personality?
G: Very important, because both my parents supported me when I was young. They taught me values, making sure I get an education. They have a very important role in the process for me to be what it is today.
D: As a person with Indonesian blood, what do you think about Indonesia?
M: I feel as a Dutchman, I was born in the Netherlands. Parents come from the Moluccas, that's my roots. (For the record, the mother of Giovanni, Fransien, is a woman from the Moluccas. As for Gio's father, Victor, also half of Maluku)
I feel connected while being here. My family is most likely to live in the Netherlands, but many are still living in the Moluccas. Of course I feel connected with the origin of my grandfather.
D: After four days in Indonesia, if there is new knowledge that you can?
G: New knowledge yes. All I know, Jakarta is a very big city. I feel very honored with the way people treat me here. Very warm, soccer is very popular here.
D: Problem football, now you are an assistant coach at Feyenoord
G: Yeah, I was an assistant coach at Feyenoord and also assistant coach of U-21 Netherlands
D: Are you able to help bring football Indonesia with such a talent scout to see the players here
G: I'm going to a lot of career coaching in the Netherlands.
Important for football to be a better Indonesia. Starting with the development of young players. We in the Netherlands is famous for coaching young players. It's important to build a good system so much talent that could penetrate the national system.
Make one league only. Two leagues in one country, it will inhibit the development and progress of Indonesian football. Make a competitive league. Make the competition tighter and more rapid development.
Holland is great because we've got the education system a good young player and a strong and competitive league. That is what should be built here. Indonesia should do it.
D: Talk about the Dutch League, Eredivisie, and so on, whether the league is perfect for players from outside Europe before they play in another league.
G: Of course. The level of competition in the Netherlands is lower than English or Spanish. But it depends also from the league where you came from, because if you come from a league that is not good, the difference is still too large.
D: When you want to take a position as head coach?
G: Two years from now I just take my professional license. Within a few this year. I have grown as well as a coach. I'm still new (Gio smiles say this - red).
D: Which team you want to practice later?
G: Of course, Feyenoord is my team. I've also been playing great teams during my career. Everything will depend on how the development of me. The team will choose you if you are capable in practice.
I kept trying to be a good coach, without thinking about where the team will handle.
D: But do you have dreamed for a team of highly trained? Dutch national team maybe?
G: (Train) national team is always so honored.
On Thursday (23 / 6), Gio met with the Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas. detiksport try asking if Gio will have a clue about where Fabregas moved.
D: Yesterday you met Fabregas. There is knowledge of where she would go?
G: No idea. We talked about other things. We met and drank a little.
D: As a player who played in Arsenal, Barcelona and the Dutch national team, all three have the characteristic attack. Are they the same philosophy?
M: Yes, we are glad the ball. We always think to come forward. I think, two, three teams are very similar.
D: Their philosophy does not depend on who the coach?
E: No. Not dependent.
Unnoticed, the time allowed to interview Gio out and we had to part.
D: So our interview. May you be successful in the future as a coach.
G: Thank you.
While walking to leave the interview and headed to his hotel room, Gio had asked for photos by a family who has four daughters. With a friendly, 36-year man was posing for them.
